The hardcore demoralization nowadays is without end and unfortunately is mainly exposed through so eclipsed bands like Hatebreed, for example. Bands like Kickback or Catharsis (R.I.P.) are truly effaced from the mainstream scene (not that they ever were part of this) and the crowd prefers listening to the same things over and over again, ignoring a so endowed underground scene. Harkonen may not be the saviours of hardcore music but for sure they are endowed with spirit. What they’ve created is created with their very souls. Without musical acrobatics, their minimal style is welcome. The vocals are equilibrated in the same tone but the expression of the anger is persuasive. The band eulogizes the teachings of Isis and, at times, spits some chaotic riffs exercised on twisted guitars. The album is exquisite and falsifies most of the hardcore bands which are famed without purpose. “Harkonen” is flecked with juvenile energy and grouchy sense, It somehow laughs over the stupidity of despondent fans that are into a scene they have barely known. The drum themes are probably the concretion of Harkonen’s music and performed nicely. The songs are beautifully catenated forming a cathartic musical chain. No bunchcombe! Beshrewed and besmirching. Diggeth…
