KARL SANDERS "Saurian Exorcisms" (The End)

Well, that’s something you don’t hear everyday. Karl Sanders (guitar, bass, vocals e.t.c. in Nile) seems to be so inspired concerning subjects of Egyptian mythology and culture that he still pleases his audience. Nile is an incredible death metal band which, in fact, has turned into a monstrous death metal band. It is undoubtedly one the scene’s most important acts ever existed because, in Nile, Karl Sanders and co. combine the extremity of death metal music with the Egyptian atmosphere and aesthetics so successfully. This, of course, is not as easy as it sounds and that’s why Nile have not yet imitators. In “Saurian Exorcisms”, mr. Karl Sanders discerns those unique themes he uses in his main band from the extreme ones. If you seek the death metal orgy of Nile’s discography so far, then you might be a bit disappointed. “Saurian Exorcisms” is performed with more traditional instruments but one can still be impressed with Karl’s ability in playing the strings. The mood is purely ceremonial and once you listen to this, you will travel to an ancient civilization with one of the greatest empires ever. And not only. The hieroglyphics begin to breathe alive and they speak us of stories which should probably be still untold.
